Deciding who gets the credit
Referral links
- A referral link is a unique tracking link (with a code like ?ref=ABC123XYZ) that lets a website know who sent a visitor, no matter which page they land on. If someone clicks multiple referral links, only the most recent one gets credit for the sale. You can also set how long the site "remembers" the click - from a few hours to several months.
Coupon codes
- Coupon codes work like referral links but for offline sharing - think influencers, print ads, or podcasts, where a clickable link doesn't work. Each coupon code is tied to a specific affiliate through Odoo's loyalty system, so when a customer uses it, that affiliate gets credit - but only one affiliate is ever credited per sale, and affiliates can't use their own code to earn commissions on their own purchases.
